HydroSil-0126

Precision. Stability. Reliability.

The Silver/Silver Chloride (Ag/AgCl) electrode is the global industry standard for electrochemical measurements. Known for its exceptional potential stability and low temperature coefficient, it serves as the critical “fixed point” against which all other electrode potentials are measured in aqueous environments.

The HydroSil-0126 is ideal for research laboratories, electrochemistry teaching institutes, industrial corrosion monitoring, laboratory demonstrations, catalytic and energy storage material testing, ORP measurements, and geochemical surveys. It operates safely over the temperature range −5 °C to 110 °C and is compatible with chloride solutions, sulphate solutions, seawater, soil and concrete pore solutions, Ringer solutions, and general aqueous electrolytes.

Maintenance includes rinsing with distilled water, reconditioning with fresh KCl electrolyte, or cleaning with dilute ammonium hydroxide for stubborn contamination. Proper storage in 4 M KCl prevents drying of the tip and extends service life. The HydroSil-0126 combines scientific precision with practical usability, making it a reliable and versatile reference electrode for laboratory, industrial, and field applications.

Inspection & Installation

  • Inspect glass body for cracks or damage before use.
  • Ensure porous glass frit is securely attached.
  • Rinse junction with distilled water to remove dried KCl crystals.
  • Equilibrate electrode in test solution before measurement.
  • Maintain vertical orientation during use.

Maintenance & Rejuvenation

  • Rinse junction thoroughly with distilled water.
  • Soak tip in warm distilled water for 5 minutes.
  • For persistent contamination, soak in dilute ammonium hydroxide (5–10 minutes) and rinse.
  • Lightly polish junction surface if electrolyte flow is restricted.

Storage Instructions

Short-Term (up to 24 hours):

  • Store electrode wet in 4 M KCl, tip always immersed, upright position.

Long-Term (over 24 hours):

  • Soak junction/tip in 4 M KCl solution.
  • Ensure tip remains wet to avoid damage.

Safety & Handling

  • Use PPE when handling KCl and NH₄OH.
  • Avoid contact with eyes and skin.
  • Dispose of Ag/AgCl residues according to local regulations.
  • Avoid excessive heat or mechanical stress.

Expected Service Life

  • Dependent on maintenance, storage, and handling.
  • Under normal laboratory conditions, it provides long-term reliable performance.
